You know that feeling when you need a mental refresh?
Traveling alone is my reset button. It is what makes me feel capable and empowered to learn about an entirely new culture on my own, through my eyes, undistracted.
Don't get me wrong. I love traveling with others as well, it's just an entirely different journey.
I love the process of traveling.
Before I go on a trip I do extensive research to educate myself on my destination. I study maps, attempt to learn some of the language, read books written by locals, and try to gain an understanding on what it's like to live there.

My first trip to Iceland was in August 2017 for nine days.
During my stay there I drove the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and then continued around the Ring Road's entirety.
Iceland is a magical place. And the only way to describe it is spiritual, especially when you are alone.
To be on an island in the middle of the ocean that is so geologically active is incredible. Everything felt like a metaphor. My mind was clear and wide like the sky but thoughts on life were bubbling up like the geysers from the views of the mountains and the lack of human impact.
